Quick Fix for Tired Countertops
|
Winter is a perfect time to attend to home repair– the weather keeps us home bound and post holiday gives us a little extra time on our hands. I saw a new product that offers remedy to outdated or tired looking formica countertops called Countertop Transformations. It’s available at Lowes, Home Depot or most hardware stores. It’s a four step process. First, clean the countertops to remove grease and sand to create “tooth”, a roughness to the surface where another product can easily bond. Next, using the roller , apply an adhesive base coat– a type of paint available in 5 colors– to the entire counter and formica back splash, if you have one. While the paint is wet, sprinkle decorative color chips over the wet paint and let dry over night. The color chips attempt to resemble the natural flecks of stone and give texture and depth. The next day, when the surface is completely dry, lightly sand the surface and apply the protective top coat. This product has been developed to offer superior water and stain resistance. Everything you need to change the look of your kitchen is offered as a kit that comes with a 100% satisfaction guaranty. It’s easy, not expensive and might just be what you need to beat Cabin Fever! |
